The Jewel of the Indian Ocean and one of our favourite places to visit. Our tour for 2018 will encompass a mix of sightseeing, lazy days by the pool, shopping for local bargains, wining and dining, and for those so inclined a chance to watch England v Sri Lanka Test Match Cricket.
Whilst we do not have firm dates as yet we can assure you that it will make for an exciting trip and the perfect way to draw to the close of 2018 with some late autumn sunshine.
Afternoon tea in a four-star hotel overlooking the mighty Indian Ocean or a thrilling tuktuk ride, Colombo is a feast for the senses. Built on land once crowded with cinnamon groves it is now dotted with high-rise blocks and skyscrapers whilst still retaining it’s native charm. The port, which attracted Portuguese traders still bustles and the streets teem with life.
Kandy sits on a plateau high above Sri Lanka’s coastal plains making it the perfect vantage point for Sri Lanka’s rulers and the ideal habitat for its famous tea plantations.
Sri Lanka’s second largest city retains an air of history and intrigue. Kandy is home to the Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Temple of The Tooth, the country’s foremost Buddhist temple and a cluster of historic Ramayana sites.
Perched enticingly on the edge of the Indian Ocean, Galle is one of the most picturesque ports in Sri Lanka. This cosmopolitan city has been the target of Portuguese, Dutch and British conquests and survived the deadly Tsunami of 2004 to become a top Sri Lankan holiday destination. At the centre of all things Galle is the UNESCO world heritage site the Fort, bustling with boutiques and restaurants and packed with history.
These and many others are the delights that await you in Sri Lanka so why not join us and see for yourself what a wonderful island this is.
